The Studio

The 100 House is a hidden gem located on Salt Spring island.  This boutique reformer studio offers customized private training and small group classes.

The Equipment

Meet the “REFORMER”

The Pilates reformer, after mat exercises, is the most popular and used piece of Pilates equipment.  It’s a sleek pull system consisting of a sliding carriage and springs with varying degrees of tension.  The reformer is an adaptable machine full of variety that is perfect for beginners, challenging for the avid fitness enthusiast, and suitable for those recovering from an injury.

Meet the “SPRINGBOARD”

Like the reformer the springboard uses spring resistance, but the feeling and effects are very different.  Each limb works independently on the Springboard.  This adds a significant coordination challenge – for the brain and for the body! It also makes the Springboard a great tool for working on imbalances.

Frequently Asked Questions

Comfortable athletic wear, free of buttons, snaps, and zippers.  Baggy shorts should be avoided as we incorporate inversions and straddle stretches in our workouts. We require socks to be worn in the studio. Sticky bottom socks provide the best grip throughout a workout. If you do not own sticky socks, we have them for purchase at the studio.

Once you’ve completed a Free Intro session we will go over package options with you for either privates, duets and or small group classes.  All sessions use the spring driven equipment. Expect a lot of cueing, and personal attention.

Once you’ve completed the Free Intro Session, recommendations will be made on class type and level to suite your needs.

Benefits of Pilates

Why Pilates?

Attention to core support and full-body fitness, including the breath and the mind, provide a level of integrative fitness that is hard to find elsewhere. It is also a reason that Pilates is popular in rehab settings, as well as with athletes who find that Pilates is a great foundation for any kind of movement they do.
